Interior insider: Meet our makers
Artistry and craftsmanship are integral to our brand – it’s where we began, with those careful stitches at a kitchen table in the 1970s, and it’s a huge part of who we are now. It’s no surprise, then, that our team of expert, in-house makers are the beating heart of our everyday operation, working to create bespoke headboards, curtains, blinds and cushions in our on-site workshop.
Mark is our bespoke furniture maker and applies his enviable skills to building and upholstering made to measure headboards. While he joined the Jane Clayton & Company team just a few years ago, he has over twenty years of experience in his field. Such is his skill that he has previously been commissioned to demonstrate his techniques to bespoke headboard factories across the country. While he is dedicated to his craft, and never tires of finding “the very best way to make something new”, he’s not without a sense of fun: “I think, on balance, my favourite ever project has been…a diplodocus headboard!”
Jackie, our curtains specialist, comes from a family of expert seamstresses, and can craft two or three flawless pairs of curtains in a single day; this is why she’s our workshop’s unofficial mentor.
“I love to welcome in all of the newcomers and youngsters, and to offer them advice on different projects.”
Our expert craftsmanship and deep-rooted respect for the process makes our made to measure service truly unique. We know that good work takes time and skill and, as Helen says, “It’s things like that - taking extra time and care - that makes our product the highest quality.”
