A Place for Play

One room, hundreds of design possibilities! For a child, a bedroom or playroom has to be exciting and inspiring so youthful imaginations can flourish. For parents, it can be tricky to keep this playfulness when considering all the requirements of a playroom; its longevity, practicality, functionality and, for parents of both boys and girls, ensuring the playroom design is gender neutral!

Recently at Jane Clayton, we have all noticed how imaginative designers are getting with their children’s ranges. To save you time trawling though Pinterest and flicking through interiors catalogues for inspiration, we have selected a few of our favourite designs to share with you all.

Keeping colour tones gender neutral can be problematic, however Scion and Casadeco have triumphed with these designs. The Panda motif is particular favourite of ours, and the design comes as either a wallpaper, or a more intricate panel. Scion ‘Letters Play’ injects an educational element into the room, and the colour palette is easy to complement and suitable for boys and girls.

The new ‘Guess Who’ collection from Scion contains a plethora of gender neutral options, with some quirky, light-hearted designs. You can invite the British weather into your child’s room with Scion’s cheerful April Showers design, and the adorable ‘Booby Bird’ penguin fabric is sure to be a hit!

It’s important to use bright, vibrant colours and patterns, so why not inject some tropical enchantment into your scheme and opt for one of these Scion patterns. Children will undoubtably fall for Terry Toucan, Felicity Flamingo and Calmer Chameleon, and the fresh pastel tones will suit a range of palettes, and add far more pizzazz than a lick of paint.

Casadeco Jetee De Coeur panels and wallpapers are really rather charming and a great option for little girls. When hung, the heart design will look as if it has been hand drawn onto your wall, creating a really soft, delicate look especially when teemed with the matching Voile Coeur fabric.

It is evident that Prestigious Textiles have really focused on creating a fantasy word for children with their latest designs. Using these wallpapers on a feature wall will be aesthetically striking, and they allow you to branch away from the usual stars or stripes pattern, to create a unique impact.
