Styling Small Spaces

When you’ve got a small space to contend with it can be difficult to know how to make the most of it. We've got the answers to achieving a bright and spacious room you'll just love to spend time in. Follow our tips to enhance your hideaway and you’ll wonder why you didn’t do it sooner.

1. The Bare Essentials
De-cluttering is key so have a thorough sort out of the room before redecorating. Could small items work well on display in another room? Pair down furniture too to include only the essentials – a lamp table could double as somewhere to put drinks, rather than squeezing in a bulky coffee table.

2. Flood With Light
If thick curtains would use up valuable floor space around the window, swap them for a sleek roman blind that can be neatly pulled up during the day. Alternatively, if you have gorgeous, traditional windows, make the most of this feature and leave bare.

3. Reflection
As well as creating a focal point for the room, a decorative mirror will reflect light around the room to brighten up any dark corners. Round hanging mirrors are particularly on trend right now and look great when grouped.

4. Lighten Up
As well as natural daylight, have fun with lighting and choose glass or pale lampshades teamed with bright bulbs to create the illusion of space.

5. A Pop Of Colour
Keep walls white and with the bright space achieved, you can afford to use a small amount of colour. A small space doesn’t have to be boring!
